At Donna Tongue ~ PERFORMER'S STUDIO™ in Londonderry, NH, my goal is to help you succeed with your musical goals. Lessons in various disciplines are offered: voice, violin, viola, music theory, sightsinging, and piano. I offer an initial consultation which has a three-fold purpose: to give us a chance to meet and see if it is a good fit, to assess a student's current ability, and to determine a direction for progress; this is offered free of charge for children 10 and under to assess their readiness for vocal lessons.
I believe that you can begin developing good habits for singing and auditory learning at any age ~ it's never too early or too late to start your musical explorations!

Lessons are given year round on a trimester basis. Fall semester runs from September through early January, and Spring semester runs from January through May. Fall and Spring semester consist of 15 lessons each. The shorter Summer semester consists of 8 lessons, offered on a flexible schedule designed for vacation and family time. Early childhood vocal and musical development
Ages 5-7 ~ experiential classes are offered for those youngsters who just can’t wait to start music lessons! Physical coordination activities, ear training, rhythmic development and sight-singing are learned through musical activities and age-appropriate songs.
Vocal
Ages 8 to adult, all experience levels ~ Discover how to optimize your sound. Gain control of your breathing and vowel shaping, and learn how to use your body’s natural resonating chambers in any style of singing. Through a combination of working with apoggio breathing, speak-sing technique, bel canto singing, tone production, Berton Coffin’s method of vowel production, and my own methods for training singers developed over 25 years of teaching, you will gain more freedom throughout your whole vocal range, and develop all aspects of your singing. Training includes coaching, diction, foreign language pronunciation, musicianship and sight-singing skills.
Beginner to Advanced Violin and Viola
Offered ages 5 and up: I use a variety of method books, ranging from All for Strings, to the literature developed by Shinichi Suzuki, as well as supplemental technique books and literature from other sources, including blues and jazz.
Beginner Piano
Offered ages 5 and up: Method used depends on the age of the beginner ~ the Alfred series is used for the young beginner, and method books designed for older students are used for those who start later and want to explore the joys of creating music for the first time. Supplemental literature and seasonal music is also explored.
